In 2015, people dissected the carcass of a stranded blue whale in Canada.
A popular idea believed by many is that the blue whale’s heart is the size of a car (often compared to a Volkswagen Beetle) and weighs half a ton.
Scientists have since recreated the blue whale’s heart and created a replica that is currently on display at the Royal Ontario Museum at 1.5 meters tall – and this is still the largest heart ever created.
Another famous idea is that blue whales also have incredibly large blood vessels, adults can even swim through the largest blood vessels of blue whales.
However, the blue whale still has many things that make us feel amazed, such as the mouth of an adult blue whale can hold 90 tons of sea water, the weight of the tongue alone is 2.7 tons, heavier than 3 kg.
The sound created by blue whales is also incredibly loud (up to 190 decibels, while the noise created by jet engines is only at 140 decibels);
However, contrary to many people’s predictions, the blue whale’s sound is still only ranked second in the animal kingdom.
One would assume that, as the largest animal on Earth, the blue whale should be a predator and eat other large animals.
Blue whales use sprinting and swimming methods to hunt for prey. After diving to a certain depth, they turn around and accelerate to sprint upward, swallowing a large amount of krill above, then
A blue whale can consume 2 million kg of food (equivalent to 500,000 calories) at one time.
Blue whales often dive up to 100 m to feed during the day, while at night this activity mainly takes place near the surface of the water.
