MSI has taken the opportunity to enhance the high-speed connection ports for the MPG Z490 Gaming Carbon WiFi by adding a USB 3.2 G2 2×2 port with maximum bandwidth of 20Gbps and keeping the USB 3.2 Gen2 and USB3 ports intact.
Gigabit LAN is now replaced by a 2.5G Ethernet port manufactured by Realtek, while WIFI uses the newer Intel AX201 chipset instead of AC-9560, increasing the maximum speed from 1.73Gbps to 2.4Gbps.
Performance testing
To test the performance of the MPG Z490 Gaming Carbon WiFi, we tested it on a system including: Intel Core i7-10700K, 16GB Ram, MSI RTX 2070 Super Graphics Card.
With a configuration of similar power (AMD chip) and using the main Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi, we recorded that the fps of the system using the MPG Z490 Gaming Carbon WiFi is always about 20% better.
In terms of temperature, with the same fan system, the Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi is usually cooler and more stable.
